Shay Given has not ruled out a Premier League return, but the 41-year-old is keeping his options open for a last hurrah.
The Liffordman left Stoke City at the end of last season and is on the look out for a club.
Currently training with Macclesfield, Given is in talks with a number of clubs. Burnley and Oldham are keen on his services and Given says he would not be averse to a move down the divisions.
“A few clubs have been in touch, I’ve had a few conversations with a few guys,” Given said on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports this morning.
“I’m keeping my eye open and my fitness up. It’s important to keep the eye in. Hopefully something will come.
“I don’t mind. I would love to stay in the Premier League as a number two or three. A few lower division clubs have been on too.
“I still feel fit, I still feel strong and I still feel like I can play another season.
Given has not ruled out a move abroad, with a switch to India – where his former Republic of Ireland team-mate Robbie Keane has recently transferred – also a possibility for what will be his final season as a player.
Given said: “I’m looking forward to getting going. It has been a bit strange. The season started and I was away playing golf yesterday.”
