Gardai are investigating a burglary at McAteer’s shop at Shannagh in Fanad.

Video footage clearly shows the two burglars busy at work around the customer service point on Sunday evening last around 8pm.

Entry was made through the front door in broad daylight and anyone in the general Shanagh/Ballylar area around this time is asked to contact Gardai at Milford on 91-53060.

It has not been disclosed what was taken but a vending machine for tobacco products was one of the main targets.

The iconic olde worlde store that stands as a monument to former times sells a huge variety of products has featured on BBC television and has already been burgled in the past number of years.

The store sits on the roadside and is a well-known landmark in the Fanad area.

The proprietor of the store told the Tirconail Tribune that he’d not heard from the Gardai since Monday.
