An information day has been scheduled for women of all ages who are hoping to upskill and rejoin the work force.
The project, WISE (which stands for Women’s Integration, Skills and Employment), running in conjunction with People First, will host their information day on Wednesday the 23rd of August at 10am at the People First Offices at 12-14 Main Street Letterkenny.
The ultimate end goal of WISE is for these women is to increase their confidence and motivation to get either back to the workforce/education full-time or part-time.
The information session is free; as is the service provided by WISE.
Employment Advisor Grainne Boyle will deliver the information session and hopes that this initiative will empower women and close the gender gap in the workforce.
She explained to Donegal Woman how it works.
“The type of education would be short accredited courses that would upskill women to be able to undertake a job in the future. It’s also specific for women as the Department of Justice & Equality and the European Social Fund are looking to bridge the gap in gender equality in the workforce.
“The only eligibility criteria for inclusion on the project is that the women need to be unemployed and NOT claiming a job seekers payment. The women can, however, be claiming lone parents, carers, disability or they may also be a dependent adult on a partner or spouses job seekers payment.
“The topics discussed will be an overview of the project and how we might be able to help with returning to the workforce. It will also be a chance for the ladies attending to ask questions and to suggest other requirements that women returning to the workforce would like to see being provided.”
The WISE project aims to help women with the following;
- Provide guidance from a dedicated personal employment advisor
- Advice and assistance with … CV, interview preparation, job applications
- Career planning and job brokering
- Access to employment opportunities
- Support in your new job for the first six months
- Confidence and motivational building
- Training and development opportunities
- Positive, personal marketing
- Self-employment support and guidance
The WISE project is an ESF funded scheme with the Department of Justice and Equality that is being provided by People First for free.
