Gardai investigate serious assault of young woman in Letterkenny

Gardai in Letterkenny are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the town overnight.

The alleged incident happened at Speer’s Lane next to Gallagher’s Hotel just before 2am.

Gardai have cordoned off the area.

A full technical investigation of the area is being carried out by Garda forensic officers.

It is understood a woman at the centre of the alleged assault is being treated at Letterkenny University Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office confirmed Gardai are investigating the incident.

“Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault of a female which occurred at Speers Lane, Letterkenny on the 20th of August 2017. Investigations are ongoing.”
