Many parts of Inishowen are under threat from severe flooding.

Houses are under threat in the Fahan area as fire crews try and deal with a major flooding close to homes.

The Burnfoot area is also under water while the main Derry to Buncrana road is passable with care as parts of the roads are being swept with drains and hill water finishing up on the roads.

Heavy rain is reported in Muff with severe flooding in many places around the village.

Inishowen TD Padraig Mac Lochlainn has appealed to people to take extra care.

He posted the following message on his Facebook page earlier this evening.

“Unprecedented crisis here folks. I am here in Burnfoot and the road is closed either way. Aghilly Road and Grania’s Gap closed.

“Muff and Bridgend under serious pressure. Emergency services are overwhelmed dealing with this serious flooding crisis tonight.

“Can everyone keep safe tonight and we will all then work together to get the financial supports that will be required over the next while.”
