Colm McFadden hit 4-2 yesterday evening in Malin as St Michael’s eased into the Championship quarter-finals.

McFadden is Donegal’s record scorer of all time, but hadn’t had a four-goal haul until yesterday’s game in Connolly Park.

“I don’t think I’ve ever got four goals before – maybe in the under-10s!” McFadden said.

St Michael’s cruise into the last eight after a 6-12 to 1-10 triumph.

McFadden said: “The young lads have come in and given us great energy.

“We wanted to make sure of top spot and we came into the game after a dodgy first ten minutes. We got a point or two to settle us down and we kicked on.

“The main thing is to be in the hat for the quarter-finals.”
