We are in the first week of September. The kids are back at school; the summer holidays are over and everyone is back in routine again.
As we sit and dwell on the summer that we have had, some of us will be feeling the effects of being a bit too relaxed, especially when it has come to our training and nutrition.
It would be easy to feel a bit down about the extra lbs that we have gained, especially since we put so much work in to ourselves in July, but sitting and feeling sorry for ourselves won’t do a thing about it.
It’s time to press reset and start again.
What I want to do is make a deal with you. Let’s start off by cleaning the slate. Forget about what has been and what kind of summer you have had. Dwelling on things that you can no longer control will only set you back further. Let’s look at what we can control and that is what will come in the future.
It’s time to press reset.
People follow a trend when it comes to our health and nutrition.
It goes like this;
• July – Holiday is really close need to lose weight = desire 100%
• August – On holiday YOLO…You only live once!
• September – Need to lose the holiday weight
It’s time to get up, get out and get back to looking after your health.
Think back to what you were doing in July, what worked for you and what didn’t work.
If what you were doing worked and it was sustainable, then try and get back into the habit of that.
If what you were doing was a chore and you didn’t really enjoy it, the it is time to look at something different, because at the end of the day, if you don’t enjoy what you are doing, you will never stick to it long term.
Enjoying your training will be the difference as to whether you keep it going into the foreseeable future or not, so try and find something that appeals to you.
It doesn’t matter what that is, everyone has different preferences when it comes to what they enjoy and how they like to train and that is a good thing.
Make sure you keep to the level of activity that is appropriate for you.
Choose activities you enjoy and, if possible, do a mix of activities.
If you didn’t already know, there are a range of health benefits that come from regular exercise;
- Exercise combats health conditions and diseases
- Exercise controls weight
- Exercise improves mood
- Exercise boosts energy
- Exercise promotes better sleep
- Exercise puts the spark back into your sex life
- Exercise can and should be fun
So it’s time to lay all the excuses aside and get your routine going again.
Once you are back in the routine of training and mindful eating again, you will start seeing and feeling the benefits again.
Once you start seeing this, you will be hooked.
