Interviewing of the candidates for the vacant Donegal manager’s job is set to begin tonight.
Just four candidates are left in the running to succeed Rory Gallagher following yesterday’s confirmation that Gary McDaid was not going forward.
Initially, after being nominated by his club, Glenswilly, McDaid left his hat in the ring.
But a statement yesterday, issued on his behalf by the club, announced that he was withdrawing from the process.
That leaves Declan Bonner, Seamus McEnaney, Cathal Corey and Sean Paul Barrett in the mix,
On Thursday night, the Donegal County Executive held a meeting to discuss the selection and appointed a five-person sub-committee to interview candidates and make a recommendation to the county committee.
The Board has decided not to divulge the identity of the selection panel.
It is not yet clear what course the process will take. However, it is likely that a second round of interviews will be conducted before a recommendation will be tabled to the October meeting of the Donegal county committee for delegates to rubber stamp.
The September sitting of the committee has been put back until next Monday, from tonight, but it is not expected that any name will go before that meeting.Tags:
