Urgent appeal for delivery volunteers to help flood victims

The Carndonagh Flood Relief Victims Centre are seeking people to assist them with the delivery of household items to the depot.

The urgent appeal was made last night as the community seeks to pull together after the devastating floods of Tuesday 22nd August.

At least 10 pick-ups need to be made to bring furniture and goods to the centre in Carndonagh at Unit 15 Gaelic Park (opposite Kelly’s service station).

Anyone with a van or truck is asked to help in any way they can. An hour or two or deliveries in the evenings will all be welcomed by the volunteers and the victims.

Volunteers said that items collected this week will need to be delivered to people at a later date. A spokesperson has called on the community spirit to ensure people get the help they need at this difficult time.

“Please help, we are trying to help people who have not just lost their home but everything that they ever had a lot of personal items, memories, things that can never be replaced. At least if we could help these people even a little bit to make life easier.

“At the end of the day, this could be any of us our families our friends would you not want people to help you.

“Our community needs to pull together in times of need and show people we are strong and willing to help each other, let’s show everyone how community spirit in Inishowen really works.”

To volunteer, contact the Carndonagh Flood Relief Victims Centre on Facebook HERE and leave a message with your name and number.
