Leading Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan will be dedicating a show on his upcoming tour to support a Donegal-based charity.

Tiernan is donating takings from his show at The Mount Errigal Hotel on October 5th to The Victoria Thompson Memorial fund and Scholarship. Tickets are on sale now.

As part of the ‘Under the Influence Tour’, the Donegal-born comic will be his usual hilarious self and mocking all things political and the personal in an evening that promises much laughter.

The Victoria Thompson Scholarship was established by Sharon and Brian Thompson, who live in Moville, Co. Donegal, in memory of their baby girl Victoria. The fund assists Irish nurses at NUIG with their studies in Children’s Palliative and Complex Care.

Sharon Thompson told Donegal Woman how Tommy came to be a keen supporter of the fund and expressed her thanks for his act of kindness:

Sharon said: “Tommy kindly came to launch our charity scholarship in April this year. He helped acknowledge excellence in nursing in NUIG University.

“Two nurses were selected as leaders from the exceptional nurses studying in the first Irish Masters in Children’s Palliative Care and Complex Care.

“Victoria’s story touched Tommy and he offered the proceeds from a large comedy show to www.TheVictoriaThompsonScholarship.com.

“Thank you to Tommy, his wife Yvonne and the whole team, we are so grateful as funds raised will help us to continue to spread awareness and services in children’s palliative care.”

NUI Galway students Anne Browne and Aisling Devitt were the proud recipients of €1,000 scholarships from the fund this year. It is hoped that further fundraising will ensure more skilled nurses can graduate and be based around Ireland. The charity also seeks to highlight the need for rural palliative care services for children.

Tickets for Tommy Tiernan’s show are on sale now via Ticketmaster.ie (click here) and at The Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny.
