Three Donegal natives are making friends in high places after bumping into Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg in Boston.

Hugh ‘The Yank’ Boyle, Seán Hume and Jack O Brien met the A-list Transformers star at the weekend and did what any Irish men would do – invited him to come for a pint!

Mark politely declined, but had a great chat with the guys and got into a selfie to remember the moment.

The trio were coming back from watching Gweedore beat St Eunan’s on Sunday and were on their way to Dorchester, Mark’s home neighbourhood, when they spotted him.

“He was pulling off but we asked for a picture. He called us over and asked us where are we from and what we made of his home village!” Hugh told Donegal Daily.

Hugh spoke highly of Hollywood’s highest-paid actor, saying he was “A gent of a man.”

“We asked him to come for a pint but, as expected, he was only visiting friends and family,” Hugh said.

Mark is known for his iconic Bostonian accent, but he gave the Donegal men a top compliment when he said he liked their accents too.

The guys talked to Mark at length about his favourite and least favourite films throughout his career. Mark revealed that the action-comedy The Other Guys was the funniest to shoot. You never know, with these new friends, he may have some Donegal guys to enroll in the cast for a sequel!
