Letterkenny traffic was at a standstill this morning with upgrade works being carried out on two town centre roads.

For the last two nights, overnight work has been ongoing at Pearse Road and Canal Road.

The resurfacing works were to be between 7pm and 7am.

However, commuters this morning arrived in Letterkenny to gridlock.

Traffic was permitted in just one way on Pearse Road.

One motorist who arrived in town around 9 o’clock said cars were backed up out as far as O’Donnell Park.
