Donegal County Council submitted an application to the Department for Rural & Community Development (DCRD) for Local Improvement Schemes (LIS) funding.

It is expected that funding for 2017, if any, will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The Council received in excess of 1200 applications from across the county confirming the huge demand for an LIS programme in Donegal.

A preliminary list of 928 potential schemes for 2017 have been submitted to DRCD with a small number of additional schemes still to be added in the coming weeks.

In the event that funding is confirmed the Council will work to prioritise this list and make contact with successful applicants to arrange for progression of the schemes.

The Council will write to all applicants in the coming weeks advising of the status of their application.

Donegal County Council would like to thank all applicants for the excellent response to the LIS invitation.

“We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of elected representatives in promoting the LIS and assisting with preparation and submission of applications, particularly given the tight deadlines involved,” said a council spokesman.
