A young family were left terrified after burglars tried to break into their home this evening while they were watching television.

Gavin Mhuineachaìn arrived home to find his partner and children “petrified” at their home in Whitehill/St Johnston.

Gavin’s partner revealed how burglars had tried the handles on their doors.

The culprits only stopped when the lights were switched on and they fled.

Gavin has issued a warning to other householders in the area to be vigilant.

He revealed “Anyone in the area should be alert. Somebody just tried to break into our house around 9pm.

“I just arrived home, partner & kids were sitting petrified. Someone tried to open front door only it was locked and they were shaking the handle until the lights were knocked on. The dogs were locked up at 8pm but around the same time they somehow got out of their dog run and were running around the back. PLease just beware,” he said.
