Help this Donegal couple save their amazing charity Christmas event

A Donegal couple who have raised thousands of euro for charities with their stunning Christmas lights display has issued an SOS for help.

Mary and Michael Whoriskey and their family have spent countless weeks turning their Kerrykeel home into a winter wonderland.

Each year for almost 20 years, their display gets bigger and bigger.

The big-hearted couple have raised a staggering €45,000 for needy causes over the past 12 years since they starting doing the light display for charity.

Now the couple are looking for the public’s help.

They are looking to buy a van-mounted cherry picker for erecting their Christmas lights display which is visited by thousands of people each year.

Mary told Donegal Daily that she’s simply getting too old to climb tall trees!

“We need a bit of help this year. Myself and Michael aren’t getting any younger and last year we had to climb trees to put some of the lights on.

“If we could buy a second-hand cherry picker or even get a loan of one then that would save us a lot of time – not to mention possible broken bones,” she laughed.

The chosen charities to benefit from this year’s light display are Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and Fanad Alzheimer’s Social Day Fanad Day Centre.

If you think you can help Mary then please contact her on 086 8545797.
