Boxing – Champions crowned at Donegal Novice Championship finals

The Donegal Novice Championship finals were held on Saturday in Carndonagh and last night in Letterkenny.

A total of 95 boxers entered, with 80 boys and 15 girls representing 15 clubs. Eight of the clubs were from Donegal, with four coming from Tyrone and a further three from Derry.

There were Donegal winners in the ring in finals from Illies, Dunree, Carndonagh, St Bridget’s, Carndonagh, Dungloe and Letterkenny over the two days of action.

There is one remaining final to be fought.

Meanwhile, the Donegal County Board has confirmed two tournaments with Raphoe ABC hosting a tournament in Deele College on November 4 and the following week Dunfanaghy ABC stage a show at the Ozanam Centre.

Semi-final, Boy 4 60kgs Fionn Nicholas (Dungloe) Ben Kearns (Star of the Sea, Derry) 3-0

Final, Boy 4 54kgs Mathias Allen (Cookstown) beat Jack Mooney (The Ring) 3-0

Final, Boy 1 41.5kgs Jack Doherty (Carndonagh) beat Conan McAleer (Sacred Heart, Omagh) 2-1
