Red Hughs won the Under-16 Northern Board Division 2 Championship title when they edged out Glenswilly in a thriller at Glenfin on Saturday.

Red Hughs 4-11 Glenswilly 4-9

Red Hughs had to overturn an eight-point half-time deficit to win.

Glenswilly led 2-7 to 1-2 at the break, with Cody Laverty’s goal key in giving Red Hughs a glimmer of hope as they parted ways.

Goals by Kyle Canning and Kyle McGarrigle had Glenswilly in command and they looked set for victory at the interval.

Tiernan Kelly netted early in the second half, but Jack Gallagher hit back for Glenswilly and there were nine points between them.

However, Red Hughs were right back in it, with Ryan Bonner-Coyle getting a goal and Caolan McClintock also raised a green flag.

Glenswilly did get a late goal through Mark Mulholland, but the remarkable comeback had already been completed.
