Storm Ophelia has claimed its first victim after a woman was killed in Co Waterford.
The woman was traveling in the West Waterford village of Aglish when a tree fell on her car.
The woman died instantly.
The woman, who is in her 70s, was from the local village and was the only occupant in the car.
A status Red remains and people are advised to stay indoors as the storm passes.
People are being warned not to make any journeys unless it is an emergency.
The storm is expecting to hit Donegal and other parts of Ulster around 3pm.
