Hurricane Ophelia is forecast to track up across Ireland today and bring severe gusts to all areas.

West and north west counties including Donegal, Galway, Sligo and Mayo are expected to be the worst affected. The storm is due to peak in North Connacht and Ulster from 3pm onwards.

Stormy conditions with violent wind gusts of 120 – 150km/hr are forecast.  Counties Cork and Kerry are already experiencing severe winds and power outages this morning.

People are advised to avoid all unnecessary travel during peak times, remain indoors and take all precautions to stay safe.

This live tracker from Windy.com charts the path of the ex-hurricane. Met Eireann say the strongest winds will be to the east of the eye of the storm.
