Breaking: Gardai release description of suspect in vicious Shanan attack

Gardai have issued a description of a man they wish to question in relation to the vicious attack on Letterkenny student Shanan Reid-McDaid.

An official statement from the Garda Press Office has appealed for witnesses to the attack close to Market Square in the early hours of Sunday morning last.

The suspect is described as, male, mid-thirties, clean shaven, 5’9”, average build, dirty blonde hair gelled back with dark bottoms, shirt buttoned to top and navy blazer.

The statement says “We can confirm that Gardai in Letterkenny are investigating an incident in that a girl in her late teens was assaulted on Castle Street, Letterkenny at approximately 3am on the 15th October 2017.

“The injured party was seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

“We would like to request that any witnesses to this alleged assault contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100.”
