Warning issued after forged €50 notes circulated in Letterkenny

Letterkenny Chamber has issued a warning to its members and to the public that forged €50 notes are being traded in the town.

The body issued a notice to all of its members via its Facebook earlier this evening.

A message from the Chamber warned “There are counterfeit 50 euro notes circulating in Letterkenny. Could all businesses please check all notes and notify your staff members.”

Some businesses have invested in scanners in a bid to beat conmen.

It is understood that a number of outlets have already fallen prey to the group passing the forged notes.

If you suspect people of trying to pass these forged notes, please contact Gardai immediately.
