Dungloe native Joe O’Donnell will head up the 51st Mary from Dungloe International Festival following his appointment as Festival Director.

Multimedia entrepreneur O’Donnell, founder of SocialBiz Ireland, has worked with the festival for many years.

O’Donnell was appointed to the Director role last night at Ionad Teampall Chroine, where the rest of the 2018 committee were also selected.

O’Donnell spoke after his appointment to say he wants to keep the momentum going from the recent success the festival has enjoyed.

He also stated he wants to attract a new audience to the festival by adding DJ’s to the festivals line up of entertainment.

It looks like plans are already afoot for another great year for the festival, after the hugely successful celebrations of the 50th anniversary year in 2017.

Law student Alisha Medford, the Glasgow Mary, was crowned the 2017 Mary from Dungloe.
