Cross-border burglars left in sticky situation after robbing array of bizarre items

PSNI Foyle have caught two men who have been charged with theft and fraud after stealing an array of bizarre items including sellotape and fungal nail treatments.

Their close shave with the PSNI happened on Tuesday night, when a patrol car was alerted to a theft at a nearby retail park.

The men are believed to be involved in a sophisticated cross-border fraud, only being caught when they attempted to steal this unusual collection.

An officer posted to their Facebook page saying: “Just another normal Tuesday night patrolling… or so we thought.

“When over the radio our colleagues in communications delivered the all-important message that a theft had just occurred in the nearby retail park and the suspects had made off in a vehicle.

“Waterside Critical Neighbourhood Policing Team located the vehicle and the two suspects were arrested for theft with the help of LPT5.

“Follow up searches uncovered a plethora of equipment for use in sophisticated fraud which Police believe to have occurred on both sides of the border.

“With the assistance of Volume Crime Support Team the two males were charged to court the next day with a number of dishonesty offences.”

After being charged, the PSNI hope they won’t see these thieves put another “toe” out of line again.
