October 23, 2017

A man was found with more than €1,000 of cannabis herb in a lunchbox at his home.

Shane O’Donnell appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with the sale and supply of drugs.

Garda Inspector Sean Grant said detectives called to O’Donnell’s home at McClure’s Terrace in Letterkenny on September 22nd, 2016.

They found a HTC mobile phone which he claimed was owned by his girlfriend.

However, when they woke the woman, she said it belonged to O’Donnell.

Gardai found pictures of cannabis herb on the phone which was later found in a lunchbox outside on a window ledge.

O’Donnell, who is now aged 28, was arrested and later admitted being involved in the sale and supply of drugs in the Letterkenny area.

Solicitor for the accused, Mr Gordan Curley, said his client had been studying computers at the LYIT and had become addicted to drink and drugs.

He was selling the drugs to feed his habit.

Mr Curley said that since the incident, O’Donnell had cleaned himself up and was now a store manager working six days a week in Claremorris, Co Mayo.

Judge Paul Kelly ordered a probation report be carried out on O’Donnell.
