Housing Rights Awareness Donegal will hold an open public meeting to examine the hidden problem of homelessness and local housing crises.
The meeting on Thursday 26th October at 7.30pm in the Raddisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny will examine local issues of housing, mortgage debt, illegal evictions, mica block scandal, vacant houses / buildings and homelessness.
Anyone in Donegal is welcome to attend the organisation’s first event and hear from the keynote speakers.
Co-Chairperson and MC for the evening Frankie Healy said “people in need deserve better, better support, better help and for the rest of society better awareness.
“It’s important that we highlight injustice and this is such a huge issue more needs to be done. The wider community of Donegal need to recognise that the problem is not just on tv but in our locality as well.”

Frankie also said “We have gathered excellent speakers to attend the meeting which will give some insight to the problem, but also what can be done as well. We all have a part to play and as a society we need to play that part.”
Speakers include Thomas Pringle T.D., Declan Dunne CEO of Respond Housing Association, David Hall of the Irish Mortgages Holders Association and the new iCare Housing Association and Fr. Peter McVerry of the Peter McVerry Trust.
Frankie Healy added, “this meeting for our group is about creating an awareness out there that these issues are too important to ignore. If people are adamant that the children of our society are important to them, then they need to do something to try help and fix this now and not let it linger on for another 15 years which is what is happening now.”
