Repairs continue to take place in Inishowen following the catastrophic flooding which devastated Donegal two months ago.

Donegal County Council has announced that the Mountain Road R244 will be closed from 7am to 7pm on Wednesday, November 1st to facilitate bridge repair works at Craignahorna.

Diversions will be via Clonmany to Ballyliffin on the R238.

During the floods, the masonry arch collapsed, leaving the road impassable.

Over 600 complaints have been made along the 1,500km road network in Inishowen, with approximately 115 bridges being damaged by the flooding (a quarter of these bridges were completely destroyed).

The total repair costs have been estimated to be in the region of €15.3 million.
