Eight people have been killed and more than a dozen injured in a terror attack in New York.
At around 3pm local time, a man in a Home Depot truck drove into a cycle path on the West Side, mowing down cyclists and pedestrians at speed.
He continued for around 10 blocks before crashing into a school bus.
He then leapt out of the smashed-up vehicle and began brandishing two imitation firearms and shouting ‘Allahu Akbar!’
A New York Police Department officer at the scene confronted the suspect and shot him in the abdomen.
The 29-year-old was taken to hospital.
Authorities in New York say there is no evidence of a ‘wider plot.’
The identities or nationalities of those killed have not yet been made known.
