A Donegal takeaway was served with a closure order this month for breaches of food safety legislation.

Saffron Takeaway and Restaurant in Creeslough was sanctioned under the FSAI Act, 1998. The Closure Order was served on October 19th and lifted on October 27th 2017.

Saffron in Creeslough was one of four food premises across Ireland hit with Closure Orders in October 2017.

Closure orders are issued on businesses if Food Safety officers find there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health at/or in the food premises.

Enforcement Orders are issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive.

Closures Orders can refer to the immediate closure of all or part of the food premises, or all or some of its activities. The Orders may be lifted when the premises has improved to the satisfaction of the authorised officer.
