Daniel O’Donnell honoured with prestigious lifelong contribution award

Donegal’s own singing star Daniel O’Donnell has won a prestigious award in the USA for his outstanding work in music. 

Daniel received the iBAM! Award for his lifelong contribution to Irish music and culture globally.

He was honoured at a gala awards night in Chicago on October 27th, where he was hailed as one of the best loved artistes of our time, both at home and abroad.

Past winners of the lifelong contribution award are Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne and John Hume.

Daniel’s career has now spanned more than 30 years and he continues to delight fans around the world by his prolific recording and touring activities, as well as remaining one of the UK Album chart’s most successful recording artists.

The prestigious iBAM! awards in Chicago brings together the best Irish authors, artists and musicians from around the world, under one roof, for a weekend Irish cultural celebration.

Daniel also put on a special concert at the gathering in the Irish American Heritage Center.

Also honored at the Gala were Frank Mathie of Chicago for Media/Journalism, Timothy Egan of Oregon for Literature, Kevin Dundon of Ireland for Culinary Arts, Joan Freeman of Ireland as Person of the Year for her work with Pieta House, Mary McNally of Chicago as Volunteer of the Year, and Philip Gray of Ireland for Visual Arts, and Jim Sheridan for Visual Arts.

Following his tour of the US, Daniel has taken up residency in Branson, Missouri up until November 18th. Dates across the UK will then take Daniel up until Christmas time ending his 2017 world tour.

This Christmas will be a special treat for Daniel fans as his ‘Christmas with Daniel O’Donnell CD’ is released. The CD and DVD collection, recorded during a sell-out December show, is already in hot demand.
