Donegal County Childcare Committee Ltd is currently seeking applicants for the roles of Development Officer (Maternity Cover) and Finance Officer (Illness Cover).

The committee is recruiting for these roles as temporary positions. DCCC Ltd, is based on the High Road in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

Donegal County Childcare Committee Ltd (DCCC) is a local government-supported agency that works for the development, sustainability and advancement of high-quality early childhood care and education in County Donegal.

DCCC proactively work and effect positive change with our partners, providers and key stakeholders by implementing the National Childcare Investment Programme on behalf of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs at local level in County Donegal.


Development Officer (Maternity Cover)

REPORTS TO: DCCC Manager
SALARY: Grade V, Point 1: €41,213
HOURS OF WORK: 5 days per week, 35 hours
CONTRACT DURATION: December 2017 to August 2018 (subject to extension)

The Development Officer will support the implementation of the Governments National Childcare Programmes across County Donegal. Provide ongoing support to new and existing childcare providers across the county including compliance, HR, governance, sustainability and practice supports.

Summation of essential criteria:

  • Holding a 3rd Level qualification (degree or higher) in early childhood care and education.
  • A good knowledge of government policy, as it relates to childcare, including the National Childcare Funding Schemes, Practice Frameworks and Regulations
  • Experience of, and ability to take lead on and co-ordinate projects, as part of the annual Local Implementation Plan
  • Self-motivated and possessing an ability to work on own initiative, and as part of a team, collaborating with other staff members on joint projects
  • Highly proficient IT and administrative abilities
  • Familiarity with funding and funding applications
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent information gathering and report writing skills
  • Excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • Use of a car, and a full driver’s licence

Finance Officer (Illness Cover)

REPORTS TO: DCCC Manager
SALARY: Grade IV (€26,756- €43,889)
HOURS OF WORK: 3 days per week, 21 hours
CONTRACT DURATION: December 2017 to March 2018 (subject to extension)

The Finance Officer has responsibility to manage the company’s payroll and finances, maintain the administrative and financial systems and structures of the company.

Summation of essential criteria:

  • Effective interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Solid and demonstrable IT skills
  • Solid and verifiable experience in a similar type position, particularly accounts-related
  • Ability to work as a team member, to prioritise workload, and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • An appropriate qualification to the post and experience working with Sage 50 Accounts.
