Milford District getting stronger with 13 text alert schemes now operating

Gardai in the Milford District has appealed to any communities interested in setting up a text alert scheme in their area to contact them.

There are currently thirteen Text Alert Groups in the Milford District, Donegal Division a District geography the size of Co. Louth.

This is a Gaeltacht District which is largely rural in nature comprising some of the most densely rural populated areas in the EU including the permanently populated islands of Tory and Arranmore.

The annual liaison meeting between the District’s Text Alert coordinators and AGS was held in An Craoibhín, Termon on Wednesday 25th of October 2017.

The meeting discussed the last year’s operations of the Text Alert Scheme in the Milford Garda District and imparted crime prevention advice and other matters for discussion at each individual Community Text Alert Schemes upcoming AGMs.

With the winter nights closing in these groups are a vital part of the Milford Garda District’s Operation Thor strategy.
