Three Donegal restaurants stirred up success at the Food Ireland Awards 2017, which celebrates the crème de la crème of the industry.

The second annual awards night was held in Dublin on Monday November 13th, recognising the hard work and efforts of the Irish food businesses.

The all-Ireland Restaurant of the Year title was awarded to Donegal Town’s  Blas restaurant. The contemporary restaurant in the Gateway Lodge is located on the Killybegs road, serving dishes with fresh local produce with a fantastic drinks selection.

The restaurant has become very popular since it opened in 2016 and this latest award marks another top achievement for Head Chef Antoine Minelli and his team.  Blas also took home the Restaurant of the Year Borders prize.

Among other Donegal victories were Thyme Out Tearooms at Glenveagh Castle, who won Cafe/Bistro of the Year 2017 Borders. The cafe’s tempting cakes and satisfying savoury options are a favourite among tourists and locals at the cafe in Glenveagh and at Alcorn’s Letterkenny.

Ireland’s Best Indian Establishment 2017 was named as Chandpur in Donegal Town. The restaurant took home regional Restaurant of the Year award in 2016 and were delighted to add another award to their highly-decorated wall.
