A Letterkenny pupil has been honoured with a gold medal for her outstanding Leaving Cert results in Design and Communications.

Cait Ní Mhordha of Coláiste Ailigh has been presented with the ETTA Gold Medal as the student to achieve the highest mark in her Leaving Certificate Design and Communications in the Country.

It is the first time a student from the Letterkenny school received such an award. Cait herself achieved 613 points in her Leaving cert and has since been travelling and working all over Asia. She intends to return to Ireland next year to further her studies. She is yet to decide what they might be.

Her father Joe was there to receive the award on her behalf at a ceremony held in LYIT where Leaving and Junior Cert Students from all over the country were in attendance.

Ann Mc Hugh and Martin Gormley of Donegal ETB were also in attendance on this historic occasion as was her teacher Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí.

Ann Mc Hugh Donegal ETB, Joe and Shiela Moore with Caits Gold Medal and Seosamh Mac Ceallabhui DCG teacher Coláiste Ailigh.
