Labhaoise Clarke begins her quest for glory at the AIBA World Youth Championships in India tomorrow.

The Carndonagh featherweight meets Namunn Monkhor from Mongolia in a last 16 bout in Guwahati.

The nine-time Irish champion traveled to India last week with the Irish team and at her weight a place in next year’s Youth Olympics in Argentina is up for grabs.

“I think now is my time with all the preparation I’ve been doing and the sparring I’ve been getting,” Clarke said.

“Since I was young, all I wanted to do was boxing. I’ve always wanted to get to Europeans and Worlds and Olympics.”

Today, Ireland’s Shannon Reilly overcame European Youth champion Olivia Hussey from England to reach the quarter-finals, while Caitlin Fryers was impressive in her win over Japan’s Nasu Misaki.

However, Lauren Kelly lost out to Chinese Taipei’s Ya Chun-Yang.
