The launch of the Ballybofey/Stranorlar Text Alert scheme will take place this Wednesday.

Cllr Patrick McGowan has welcomed the latest area in Donegal to join the National Community Text Alert scheme.

The launch will take place in the Finn Valley centre at 8pm.

Guest speakers will be Garda Supt Michael Finan, Sgt Paul Wallace, Crime Prevention Officer and Vanessa Clarke Muintir Na Tire.

The public are encouraged to attend so they can hear first hand how the system works and ask questions on the night about policing generally.

Councillor McGowan said “Everyone is welcomed and hopefully this latest Text Alert scheme will leave no hiding place for would-be criminals who are surveying this part of Donegal.

“There are Text Alert schemes set up in most area across Donegal and we need to ensure that the Garda have sufficient personnel and resources to support the public in tracking these criminals before they commit burglaries or more serious crimes in our communities.”

Text alert forms are available at the BASE centre at Railway Road, Stranorlar.
