A Glenswilly cyclist has been selected to go to the Sierra Nebvada mountains for a training camp in the New Year.

Cathal Gallagher, a student at St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny, has been called for the trip.

Cathal cycles for Errigal Cycling Club and had ridden for the National Cycling Youth Academy. Earlier this year, he competed in three English Youth League races.

He is one of 15 riders to get the nod and his proud mum, Colette, says it will be a great experience.

“He puts so much work into the sport, it’s just great for him,” she said.

The week-long training camp is being organised by Cycle Sierra Nevada.
