€12,200 funding secured for Gaeltacht groups in Cloghan, Cloughaneely, and Ranafast

Three more groups in the Donegal Gaeltacht are to receive funding, Minister Joe McHugh has announced today.

The funding awards involve a school in Cloghan, the golf club Cloughaneely and community group in Ranafast.

Gaeltacht Minister McHugh has awarded €8,520 to Cloughaneely Golf Club, €1,941 to Scoil Náisiúnta an Choimín in Cloghan and Áislann Rann na Feirste and €1,811 to Áislann Rann na Feirste. He said in all cases the organisations were also making their own contributions to the costs.

The Donegal TD said: “I have sanctioned €1,811 to purchase computer equipment for the Áislann Centre, Rann na Feirste. The Áislann assists greatly in promoting the Irish language locally, where they run events and classes through the medium of Irish only, and this grant to upgrade their computer system will assist the centre in continuing with this work, for the local community and also visitors to the area.

“The funding for Scoil Náisiúnta an Choimín will help purchase a sound system for the school. The school received €12,500 last year for sound proofing works in the hall, where they had a serious issue with echo, and it was affecting their use of the hall for dramas, concerts. I visited the school and this new sound system will benefit the pupils, teaching staff, and the local community, as well as Oideas Gael who use the school’s facilities during the summer months.

“And the funding for the golf club will go towards the purchase of a lawn-mower. With the club being located on the Wild Atlantic Way, it attracts a lot of tourists to play, as well as many locals. The club hosted golf classes in the summer, where over 40 young people participated. Irish is always at the forefront of the classes, in the club-house, and at any club events.”

The funding announcement today follows the sanctioning by Minister McHugh earlier this week of €66,500 to four Gaeltacht groups in Gweebarra, Ranafast, Gaoth Dobhair and Falcarragh.

As Gaeilge:

D’fhogair an tAire Stáit Joe McHugh go bhfuil deontas ceadaithe aige inniu do thrí ghrúpaí Ghaeltachta i Dhún na nGall – do scoil sa Chlochán, don Cumann Gailf i gCloich Cheann Fhaola agus don Ionad Pobail i Rann na Feirste.

Tá €8,520 do Chumann Gailf Chloich Cheann Fhaola, €1,941 do Bhord Bainistíochta Scoil Náisiúnta an Choimín, agus €1,811 d’Áislann Rann na Feirste, ceadaithe ag an Aire McHugh.

Dúirt an tAire McHugh, “Tá €1,811 ceadaithe agam d’Áislann Rann na Feirste chun trealamh ríomhaireachta a cheannach don Ionad. Tá Áislann Rann na Feirste ag cur le láidreacht na Gaeilge sa cheantar agus imeachtaí éagsúla á reáchtáil acu trí Gaeilge amháin. Cabhróidh an maoiniú atá ceadaithe córas ríomhaireachta a chur ar fáil do bhunadh na háite agus do chuairteoirí araon.

“Cabhróidh an deontas do Scoil Náisiunta an Choimín córas fuaime a cheannach don scoil. Ceadaíodh €12,500 don scoil anuraidh chun painéal fuaime a chur suas chun fáil reidh le macalla i halla na scoile. Thug mé cuairt ar an scoil anuraidh, agus tuigim go mbainfidh daltaí, foireann na scoile, agus pobal na háite, chomh maith le Oideas Gael, a bhaineann úsáid as áiseanna na scoile i rith an tsamhraidh, tairbhe iontach as an gcóras fuaime seo.

“Cabhróidh an deontas do Chumann Gailf Chloich Cheann Fhaola lomaire féir a cheannach daofa. Tá an-áthas orm cuidiú a thabhairt don Chumann gníomhach seo atá ag cur áis álainn ar fáil, ní amháin do mhuintir an cheantair ach do thurasóirí a bhíonn ag taisteal ar Shlí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin. D’fhreastail timpeall 40 duine óg ar ranganna gailf a cuireadh ar fáil sa samhradh. Bíonn Gaeilge á labhairt sa chlubtheach agus ar gach ócáid bronnta sa chlub. “

Cheadaigh an tAire McHugh deontas de €66,500 do cheithre ghrúpaí Gaeltachta in Ghaoth Beara, Rann na Feirste, Gaoth Dobhair agus an Fál Carrach, níos luaithe an tseachtain seo.
