Burglars target Newtowncunningham home

Gardaí are investigating a break-in that occurred last night in Newtowncunningham.

The break-in occurred overnight, with the brazen thieves kicking in the back door to gain entry to the premises.

The Garda forensic squad remains on site to investigate the break-in.

Local sources speculate that this could have been an opportunist break-in due to the local GAA club, Naomh Colmcille, securing the Ulster JFC title over Belnaleck last night.

It is not yet known if this robbery is related to the spate of burglaries across Donegal in late September. One of these attempted burglaries occurred nearby in St Johnston.

We will bring you more on this breaking news story as we have it.
