Last week its star Mark Hamill aka Luke Skywalker said he never wanted to leave Donegal after filming here.

And now the director of the latest Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi, has given local tourism another huge boost.

Rian Johnson was asked where in the world was his favourite place to touch down in the Millenium Falcon.

And Malin Head and Kerry topped his list.

He said “We shot in some amazing places. We shot in Croatia, in Iceland but I think my favourite spot to be was in Ireland.

“We had such a good time there and all the folks who lived where we were shooting welcomed us with open arms and all the local crews were so cool. So I love Ireland.”

The latest Star Wars instalment, Episode VIII The Last Jedi, opens on December 15th.
