A Donegal woman has won the International Coach Federation Ireland Life Coach of the Year 2017.

Margo Kelly who works in Donegal Occupational Health Service scooped the ICF Ireland Life Coach of the Year award at a ceremony in the Grand Hotel Malahide Dublin recently.

This award is richly deserved and huge recognition of the coaching work that Margo does as part of her role in Occupational Health.

Margo is also a qualified Medical Coach, being the first one to qualify in Ireland and the only qualified Medical Coach in the HSE.

Reflecting on the award, Margo says “I am passionate about coaching and winning this award adds further credibility to the value of coaching within the HSE. Medical Coaching is so aligned to my role as a coach and nurse working in Occupational Health.”

In Margo’s experience, Coaching and Medical Coaching has afforded many clients to make significant improvements and changes in their life and career, and she uses the coaching relationship to work with clients as they face life and work challenges.

Margo is an active and fully-participating member of the Connect Coach Network in the HSE West area, and lives out the core competencies of the International Coach Federation in her coaching style and in her work in Occupational Health.

For Margo winning the award adds further credibility to the value of coaching as a way of ensuring better health and wellbeing for staff in the HSE which in turn leads to better patient care and improved health. This value needs to be promoted to all healthcare staff and to individuals living with an acute or chronic medical condition.
