The R238 Burnfoot/Buncrana Road, which was closed this morning after a serious accident, has been reopened.

Gardai are investigating the single vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 3.10am on Friday morning.

A man, aged 22, was the sole occupant of a 4×4 vehicle which collided with a stone wall. He was taken by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious injuries.

Forensic collision examinations have been completed at the scene and diversions are lifted. Traffic is now moving again though Tieveban, north of Burnfoot.

Gardai are seeking information from witnesses or anyone who was on that stretch of road between 2.50am and 3.20am this morning. Anyone with information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda station on 074 9320540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
