One Donegal school is positively buzzing with Christmas cheer ahead of the holidays and have created a smash-hit video to share the merriment.

Staff and students of Scoil Mhuire Buncrana have filmed another amazing Lip Dub video which is well on its way to becoming a viral sensation.

The video, filmed by past pupil Emile Rainey, is an exciting festive celebration featuring the entire school community. All the staff and the 667 pupils donned their Christmas jumpers and accessories to mime their favourite songs and demonstrate the colourful array of subjects taught at the school.

It’s a feast of activity and comedy that will require a few watches to catch all the details! An Elf on the Shelf, explosive science experiments, a dance display by Spanish exchange students and thrilling gymnastics are just some of the scenes you’ll see. Watch it here:

Principal Rosaleen Grant tells Donegal Daily that the video was all about bringing a feel-good factor to the school. Every subject is showcased as the camera zooms through the corridors, with many singing students leading the way.

“It’s exciting for everyone. It showcases our subjects and our extra curricular activities.

“The students love doing it and have been looking forward to seeing it ever since we filmed it last week,” Ms Grant said.

Ms Grant and the school community are delighted with the finished product.

“Christmas time can be a bit dull and depressing, especially this year after the floods in Inishowen. We wanted to showcase the feel-good factor in the area and it will mean a lot to the people of Buncrana.

“It came out lovely. It shows what you can achieve when the students and staff cooperate,” Ms Grant said.

The video brings together young people from the wider community too. In a speedy walkthrough at the two-minute mark, viewers will spot sixth class students from local primary schools who were visiting for an open day.

The school filmed a famous lip dub five years ago and were eager to make this one another success. Since being uploaded at 5pm last night the newest video has already gained 18,000 views.

“What’s great is seeing the comments from past pupils all over the world who are enjoying seeing their old classrooms. I can’t believe how many views it has got already,” Ms Grant said.
