The woman who died in yesterday’s housefire on the outskirts of Buncrana has been named locally.

She was Sadie Gill who was in her early 90s.

Ms. Gill lived with her nephew in her bungalow home at Ballynakeelogue.

The fire was spotted by a passer-by yesterday at around 4pm.

Despite the attendance of Gardai and the fire service a short time later, Ms. Gill was pronounced dead.

Her relatives and friends have been informed of her death.

The victim was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post mortem will take place later today.

A Garda forensics team has arrived at the scene of the blaze but no details as to how the fire started have yet been released.
