Artist Selena Mowat will have her first comeback show in Ireland after living in Germany for the last 4 years.

The acclaimed portrait artist has created an exhibition titled ‘On the Natural’ will include large-scale landscape paintings produced this year in Ireland and Germany.

The exhibition opening will take place at 5.30pm on Friday 22nd December at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny Co. Donegal.

The opening event will include live music and visual projections and there will also be a raffle with the opportunity of winning a landscape painting or a commissioned portrait by Selena.

Selena is a Scottish born artist who lived in Donegal from 2010 until 2014. After visiting the county briefly in 2009 she immediately fell in love with its ‘timeless charm and character’, inspired not only to its diverse and captivating terrain which has attracted so many artists before her but by its preserved culture and welcoming spirit of the community.

A former lecturer in Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee University where she graduated in 2002, Selena has exhibited extensively throughout Scotland, the UK and Europe and was the Irish Winner of Sky Arts Portrait Artist Of The Year broadcast on television in 2013.

Selena achieved further acclaim this year for her portrait of ‘Seán Mac Diarmada’ one of the signatories of the Proclamation of Independence that was included in the publication of ‘Centenary: Ireland Remembers 1916’ produced by the Royal Irish Academy on behalf of Government Publications.

Selena’s collection of portraits titled ‘Magnificent Seven’ commemorating all seven signatories of the Irish Proclamation will also be on display at the exhibition.

The exhibition will run until the 31st of January 2018.
