Pensioner hospitalised after being knocked down outside evening mass

An elderly man has been hospitalised after he was knocked down outside of evening mass in Letterkenny.

The man, who is in his 70s, was struck by a car outside St Eunan’s Cathedral following 7.30pm mass.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the man was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital.

The area was very busy at the time of the accident.

Gardai have appealed for anybody who was in the area at the time to contact them with any information.

The man’s condition is not yet known.
