Ollie Horgan challenges BJ Banda to nail regular Finn Harps berth

BJ Banda has become the latest player to commit to Finn Harps for next season.

The 19-year-old Letterkenny man, the hero from Harps’ promotion to the Premier Division in late 2015, has agreed another one-year contract at the Ballybofey club.

Banda broke into the senior side in 2015 and scored a dramatic late winner in a promotion-relegation play-off against Limerick FC at Finn Park.

While Banda has found first team chances limited since then, the 2018 First Division season may well see him get his head.

“B.J. will have a big opportunity to nail down a regular place in the team next season and it’s up to him now to make that happen,” Harps manager Ollie Horgan said.

“He’s been around the senior squad since the second half of the 2015 season so he knows what is required in terms of the commitment to play at his level.

“B.J. has come up through our underage system and played at both U17 and U19 so that has been the right pathway to learn the game.

“He has the knack to get goals but we will need him to do that on a regular basis in the First Division.”
