Celtic FC have paid tribute to a tragic fan killed in a crash while on holiday with family in Donegal.

Sean Heraghty, 26, a quantity surveyor from Glasgow, was knocked down on the outskirts of Dunfanaghy on Wednesday morning.

Heartfelt messages have flooded in online for the Hoops fan who was knocked down by a car while walking to his family’s home in Sandhill at around 4.15am.

The clubs’s supporter liaison officer John Paul Taylor posted an emotional tribute following the tragic news.

He wrote: “Condolences from all at Celtic to family & friends of Sean Heraghty, 26, who lost his life in a tragic accident in Donegal earlier in the week.

“A big Celtic fan Sean will be a huge loss to all who knew him. RIP.”

Prayers were said at a local mass yesterday morning and it is understood Sean’s wake will be held in Donegal.

Sean’s family originally hail from the Falcarragh area and they had a holiday home in Dunfanaghy.

Other tributes have also been paid to him online following the incident.

One person said: “So sad to hear of this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Heraghty family. RIP.”
