Donegal County Council to consider taking over two ‘degraded’ roads

Donegal County Council is to consider taking over two roads that have fallen into poor states.

Councillor Liam Blaney told the Letterkenny Municipal District’s January meeting that residents have become frustrated at the condition of the Drumfad/Carland-Ballymashannagh/Kerrykeel road and the Doaghbeg to Doaghcrabbin road.

“People are asking all the time what is happening with these roads,” Councillor Blaney said.

“A lot of people use the roads. The first is a road that connects two county roads and the other is a ring road that comes back onto a county road and also leads to a beach.”

Councillor Ian McGarvey added: “These roads are very convenient and have been degraded. Every effort needs to be made to deal with them.”

In response, Donegal County Council has said that Councillor Blaney’s motion will be considered in accordance with the Council’s adopted policy on the take over of roads and a report brought to a further meeting.
