A 68-year-old tractor driver has been killed following an accident on the main Letterkenny to Lifford Road this morning.
The accident, between a car and a tractor happened just before 7am close to Drumoghill.
The emergency services rushed to the scene but it is understood the tractor driver was already dead at the scene.
The driver of the car has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Garda forensic investigators are arriving at the scene.
The road is expected to be closed for the rest of the day.
This is the first fatal road accident on Donegal’s roads in 2018.
The victim’s name has not yet been released until all his relatives have been informed.
