Kildrum Tigers with touching nod to Pieta House on new kit

Donegal League leaders Kildrum Tigers have added the Pieta House logo to the back of their new senior team jerseys.

Michael Clarke of 3rd Eye Fire & Safety has sponsored the St Johnston club a new senior team kit.

Kildrum, once again in the red and black verticals, have added a nod to Pieta House on the back of their shirts.

Pieta House is a non-profit organisation providing a specialised treatment programme for people who have suicidal ideation or who participate in self- harming behaviours.

Last May, Pieta opened a centre in Letterkenny. The local community had campaigned for a Pieta House presence in Donegal due to the increasing numbers of people in the region dying by suicide.

“As a club, we have become acutely aware of the importance of Pieta House and the services they provide,” a club spokesperson for Kildrum Tigers said.

“Suicide has touched our club and our community all too often in recent years. The club has added the Pieta House logo to the back of the new jerseys to raise awareness of the invaluable work provided by Pieta House.

“Having the logo included on the jerseys is also a reminder of the members and friends that we have lost over the years.”

Kildrum are set to host Castlefin Celtic on Sunday at Station Road Park. It will be a first game for Shane Brown’s team since Christmas and also their first since the death last week of Kildrum Tigers founder member Bobby Toland.

Sunday’s game will be preceded by a minute’s silence.
